The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) has been busy recognizing two DRDC Atlantic scientists for their ongoing contribution and dedication to their field.
Mark Trevorrow was elected a Fellow of ASA for his contributions to high-frequency underwater acoustics and acoustical oceanography on 1 December 2006 at an ASA meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii. David Chapman, also a Fellow of ASA, received the ASA Silver Certificate earlier that year honouring his 25 years participation with the society. It was Mr. Chapman who nominated Mr. Trevorrow for the fellowship.
Mr. Trevorrow, a gifted experimentalist, currently leads the torpedo defence group. He has an extensive publication record that includes eight refereed papers in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America and 25 other papers in leading acoustics, geophysics, and engineering and fisheries science journals.
Besides being Fellows of ASA these two scientists share another distinction: they are the only two Canadians ever to have received the A.B. Wood Silver Medal and Prize for underwater acoustics from ASA.
