US Coastguard Officials and Consul General visit DRDC Atlantic

DRDC Atlantic hosted top U.S. Coast Guard Admirals and a U.S. diplomat on 23 January for high level briefings on DRDC Atlantic and the Maritime Science and Technology/Research and Development Program.

Ross Graham, Director General DRDC Atlantic and DRDC Scientists Mark McIntyre and Neil Pegg briefed Vice Admiral D. Brian Peterman, Rear Admiral Timothy S. Sullivan and U.S. Consul General to the Atlantic Provinces Harold Foster on DRDC activities in the maritime security domain. Topics included Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), Multi-Sensor Integration within a Common Operating Environment (MUSIC COE), the AIS Vessel Monitoring System (AVMS), and the Maritime Force Protection Technology Demonstration Project (FP TDP), including an explanation of diver detection trials.

The senior U.S. officials were in Halifax as part of a courtesy call to the Commanding Officer of the Joint Task Force Atlantic (JTFA) and Maritime Forces Atlantic (MARLANT) and included a stop at DRDC Atlantic as part of their debriefing activities.

Vice Admiral Peterman is Commander, Atlantic Area and Commander, Defense Force East of the United States Coast Guard. Rear Admiral Sullivan is Commander, First Coast Guard District and Commander, Maritime Defence Command One.
