DRDC Atlantic handed out its teamwork and achievement awards to two dedicated teams on 25 January 2007 at an annual awards ceremony.

The recipient of the DRDC Atlantic Teamwork Award went to the Project REBECCA team. Over the course of three years, the team, which included participation from DRDC Ottawa, was involved in this classified project for the US Navy Office of Naval Research (ONR) from its conception to its demonstration on the Canadian Forces Auxiliary Vessel (CFAV) Quest. ONR is now considering the inclusion of the REBECCA technology in the next developments of its new underwater surveillance system.

The recipient of the DRDC Atlantic 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award went to team members of the submarine Nickel Aluminum Bronze (NAB) valve evaluation project. In close collaboration with the Director General Maritime Equipment Program Management (DGMEPM) design authorities and the local Fleet Maintenance Facilities (East and West), the team developed new procedures for static and dynamic valve evaluations. They designed and fabricated new test vehicles and tested and assessed valves with varying degrees of damage. This project has established DRDC as the leading international authority on NAB valve issues.
